A Foreman’s responsibilities will vary from project to project and depend greatly on each project's specifics. This position will work closely with the project superintendent to understand and delegate daily work assignments to the field crew. This position is heavily involved in leading and monitoring the safety of job sites. A Foreman requires strong leadership and communication skills. This position reports directly to the Superintendent. SunWest Builders believes that a successful foreman must exhibit the following:

Responsibilities

  • Compliance with OSHA and company safety rules and regulations
  • Create job tasks and directly supervise field crews.
  • Monitor daily construction procedures for quality control.
  • Assist with daily logs and quality control inspections using Procore.
  • Assist and/or manage weekly safety meetings.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction documents, and details.
  • Motivate workers to work efficiently while maintaining a sense of camaraderie.
  • Responsible for the inventory of SWB tools, and everything is properly maintained and in good working order for crews.
  • Receive and store materials delivered to the job site; check for accuracy and broken or damaged goods.
  • Create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Understand Project Schedule and provide on-going input on in-house and subcontractor productivity.
  • Assist with third-party inspections.
  • Assist with opening job sites in the morning and securing job sites in the evening.
  • Assist with carpentry tasks as needed
  • Assist with the initial punch list.

Requirements

  • Creates and maintains a positive job site culture with positive and encouraging leadership..
  • Leads safety and quality on the job site by setting a good example.
  • Good knowledge in all construction trades
  • Excellent carpentry skills
  • Utilizes strong organizational skills.
  • Must be physically fit and have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Analyzes problems and makes decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risk implications, and costs.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum 5 years Field construction experience..

Job Conditions

  • The position will, at times, require heavy lifting (of at least 50 lbs) and the use of heavy equipment.
  • The position will require 8 hours a day of walking, standing, climbing, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and stretching; to include pulling, pushing, and lifting of construction materials and equipment.
  • Work may be inside or outside, depending on work schedule. You must be able to work in either environment and be prepared for inclement weather.
