The Shop Foreman is an integral position within SunWest Builders team. As with all management personnel, this position requires ownership and professional leadership skills. The ability to create and maintain a positive and safe work environment is paramount. The Shop Foreman must have previous mechanic experience on construction equipment, and ability to oversee and perform maintenance repairs on construction equipment, fleet vehicles and aerial lifts. This position reports directly to the Employee Relations Manager.

SunWest Builders believes that a successful Project Engineer must exhibit the following:

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the SAFETY of team members in work environment.
  • Manage and maintain Shop and work environment.
  • Train and mentor junior Technicians, leading by example.
  • Prioritize and executes equipment repairs based on business needs.
  • Manage all aspects of the company’s tools, including inspections, maintenance, repair, distribution, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Maintain company vehicles and equipment.
  • Manage all aspects of outside rental equipment.
  • Manage in-house rental program.
  • Maintain shop and facility to include safety, maintenance, and security.
  • Ensures that shop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous material.
  • Schedule material and tool deliveries as needed.

Requirements

  • Follow and execute all appropriate Safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods, lifting heavy loads of at least 50 pounds, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of power tools and machinery
  • Ability to work in all weather
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Licensed equipment operator
  • Strong organizational, leadership and motivational skills

Education and Experience

  • Associates’ degree or a minimum of 5 years of similar experience.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of shop industry.
  • Works well with a team.
  • Exhibits strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates awareness of all health and safety protocols.
  • Manages time efficiently and multi-task effectively.

  • Possesses basic computer skills.

Job Conditions

This position generally requires a minimum, 8-hour workday. Each project will define and dictate the actual workweek, workdays and working hours. It is the expectation of SunWest Builders that each employee will satisfy the unique workday requirements for each project as necessary.
